Women in the U.S. workforce continue to struggle for equal pay and face challenges advancing in their careers. While women make up nearly half of the workforce, research shows that women continue to earn less than men and struggle for equal representation.
Surprisingly, some of the industries with the largest pay gaps have the greatest share of female workers. Women outnumber men in earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees and are nearly on par in getting medical and legal degrees and still men are more likely than women to get the highest paying leadership roles. The gender pay gap also varies considerably by race and ethnicity, and by other demographics.
Join us as the Chamber’s Senior VP of Programs & Initiatives, Celeste Granger, presents an overview of the disparity in pay and leadership opportunities for women in the workforce. Following the presentation, we’ll hear from panelists versed in how we can work to identify the barriers and close the gap.
